Alex James SMP started in a converted garage in Rossendale in 2020. No investors, no backing — just Alex, his own SMP results on his head, and a genuine belief that he could help other men in the same position he’d been in.

Dawn
With demand growing, Dawn came on board as SMP artist and PRP specialist. The clinic added advanced treatments it couldn't offer before and began building the reputation for expertise that the training academy would later be built on.
Elly
As the SMP side of the business grew, Elly stepped up as lead SMP practitioner, taking on a growing share of scalp treatments and consultations. Her focus on precise hairline design and density work has helped keep session quality consistent as demand for the clinic's flagship service kept climbing.
Tracey
As demand grew beyond hair loss treatments, Tracey joined to lead the clinic's semi-permanent makeup service: brows, lip blush and eyeliner — while also training in SMP herself. It meant clients could get precision cosmetic tattooing and scalp treatments under one roof, from a team that already had the trust of hundreds of returning clients.

2022 - Dawn Joins the Team

2023 - First Standalone Clinic · First National Award
The clinic moved into its first external premises in Rawtenstall — a proper treatment space with room for training courses alongside client work. The same year, Alex James SMP was named Scalp Micropigmentation Clinic of the Year at the CorporateLiveWire Global Awards.
2024/2025 - Two Floors. Four Awards.
A move to the current two-floor clinic in Crawshawbooth gave the business a dedicated treatment floor and a full training facility. Since then: British Hair and Beauty Awards Winner (Training Centre of Excellence, 2024), Beauty & Aesthetics Awards Winner (Best Training Academy, 2025), and UK Small Business Awards Finalist (Best Hair Business, 2025).
Training with Alex was honestly one of the best decisions I’ve made. I’m still in the process of growing my business, but the level of support I’ve received has been incredible.
